Airedale is a large housing estate between the town centre and Fryston. Its focal point is the Square where there are shops, two churches (Holy Cross, Church of England, pictured below, and St Edmund's, Roman Catholic) and a new library, community centre and Sure Start centre. The square itself was modernised for the new millennium (see photograph above).
The Holy Cross Church (above) was built by locals using stone from the ruins of Fryston Hall. In Ferry Fryston, the Green recreation area has been renewed. This photograph (below) shows the new gate to the Green.
