Over the river, to the north of the town centre, is Lock Lane,
an area named after the street that runs through it. Most of the streets off the
lane are terraced with no front gardens.
From Mill Lane there is a good view of the weir on the
river. The left picture is from
1916 viewing towards Lock Lane and showing the weir.
On the way into Lock lane is this delightful scrap yard
sculpture (right).
Lock Lane has a centre and a sports centre.
The centre has behind it a beautiful little park with a
play area.
